"What I remember the most about the Cordona campaign, is how quiet it was. We had all fought traitors before, but never from our own geneseed. We were silent on the flight there, any thoughts or silent prayers to the Emperor were kept that way, no one said a word. We all knew what the Flesh Tearers were capable of, but when we arrived, it was a thousand times worse then expected. I saw sights in that month on Cordona that still haunt me to this day..." ~Attributed to Epistolary Artemis, Blood Angels Fourth.
Turn 1.
Turn one was rather uneventful, with the Flesh Tearers winning the deployment and first turn rolls, they moved their two tactical squads forward and kept their terminators at the back. The Death company dreadnought stayed put, then it was my turn. I lost four of my own Death co to dangerous terrain when their jump packs had them land in the thick of a grove of trees, after conducting the rest of my movement phase in peace, shooting commenced. A well placed krak from my first tactical squad killed a Flesh Tearer devastator, and a solid barrage from the company whirlwind did in two enemy Death Co. so ended day 1.
Turn 2.
Turn two was far less eventful then turn 1, with no shooting casualties taken by the fourth and only two taken by the Flesh Tearers. past that, nothing more to tell, save for my Librarian's honour guard destroyed their only dreadnought.
Turn 3.
Turn three opened up with the Flesh Tearers moving into a solid firing block, leaving my Librarian and his command squad wide open to shooting from their Vindicator, which, thank the Emperor, overshot them and scattered into the woods, successfully obliterating nothing. We took no shooting casualties, but our squad of allied Stormtroopers destroyed the FT land speeder Typhoon with some well placed plasma blasts. Both of my own dreadnoughts landed in their drop pods, and in that turn succefully stunned the enemy predator and killed a devastator. We took no casualties from close combat, nor did we inflict any, but Artemis and his men did manage to destroy the Vindicator with some melta bombs.
Turn 4.
A far less exciting turn. the Ksarkin killed two terminators with their special weapons and Chaplain Asmodai took one wound, past that, no further casualties inflicted.
Turn 5.
The FT terminators tore into the Stormtroopers and killed two with their assault cannon, their supporting tactical squad also shot, but failed to kill anything. In response, the Ksarkin killed three terminators, fighting towards the main target of this mission, the rogue inquisitor. Chaplain Asmodai fell to the enemy chaplain, as did two of our own Death company marines, but the boys in black struck brutally, killing two of theirs. The furioso dreadnought became stunned when a krak missile bounded off its side armor, aside from that, day five drew to a close.
Turn 6.
The enemy tactical marines shot into Artemis' honour guard but could not find the firepower to down any of the enraged angels. In an amazing and daring display of brutality, the Ksarkin annihilated the enemy Terminators and surrounded the inquisitor while our Death Company smote the enemy chaplain. Our furioso nearly fell to a cleverly hidden Eversor assassin, but instead it ripped him in half with its mighty claws. In one fell swoop, Librarian Artemis, supported by the assault marines of Sergeant Dagan, surrounded and routed the remaining enemy marines, leaving only inquisitor Cross and his bodyguards alive...
"It was then that I issued my ultimatum, Surrender, or be destroyed. Cross chose the latter..."
Outcome: Blood Angels fourth triumphs once more.
